Help Families and Children in Your Community
The Children’s Division likes to partner and connect with local organizations to help provide for families and children to prevent child abuse and neglect and keep children and families safely together when possible. If your faith-based or community organization is interested in how it can help families and children within your community, we encourage you to reach out to vickie.stoneberger@dss.mo.gov
Ways You Can Help
There are many ways your organization can help Children's Division fill in the gaps between our services and the needs of each individual family. These are only a few ways you can help - make an inquiry below to learn more.
Recruitment
You could host recruitment events in your area and help find foster, adoptive, and respite families.
Support Groups
Does your organization host support groups or ministries that assist children and families? This could include celebrating recovery, grief groups, parenting or marriage seminars, summer camps, and more.
Community Service
Are there opportunities for individuals or families to serve the community through your organization?
Space Available
We often need a free space for supervised or unsupervised family visits, trainings, meetings, support groups and orientations to take place. If your organization has available classrooms or event space, this is a great opportunity to partner with us.
Resources
Can your organization provide free or low cost resources for families such as food, furniture, car care and maintenance, clothes, diapers and formula, household cleaning supplies or maintenance, etc.
Gifts
Sometimes families in your area need assistance providing holiday gifts, birthday presents, school supplies, school fees and more for their children.
Faith-Based and Community Partners Virtual Meetings
If you currently partner with us or are interested in partnering, you are invited to participate in our quarterly faith-based virtual meetings.
Our goal is that our community faith-based partners of all faiths across Missouri collaborate with the Children’s Division to bring hope, empowerment, and encouragement to strengthen and support our children and families in need.
These quarterly meetings provide relationships that build resources that either keep children and families together or provide a safer return home. When working together and sharing resources, more families are served more effectively and efficiently and can reach objectives not attainable by either working alone. Please join us at every meeting or at a time that works best for you!
