Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiary
The Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) program provides payment of Medicare Part B premiums to individuals who would be eligible for the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program, except for excess income. Income must be more than 100% of the federal poverty level (FPL) but not exceed 120%.
In Missouri the SLMB program also includes the Qualifying Individual 1 (QI -1) program. QI -1 (also known as SLMB group 2) provides payment of Medicare Part B premium for persons whose income is more than 120% of the FPL, but does not exceed 135%.
Who Is Eligible?
The person who:
- receives Medicare Part A (hospital insurance);
- has a net income which does not exceed 135% of the federal poverty level of the assistance group size; and
- if single own resources with a value of no greater than $6,940 or if married and living with the spouse, does not own resources over $10,410.
