Annual Child Fatality Review Training
The State Technical Assistance Team is mandated under Chapter 210, RSMo, to "Provide training, expertise and assistance to county child fatality review panels." This is accomplished, in part, through an annual series of in-service training sessions for all current CFRP members. Direct support for all 115 community-based multidisciplinary panels promotes communication and cooperation between professionals participating in this locally driven program. This program addresses panel and community concerns regarding any child death issue. Case-specific, on-site training and team building concepts are provided upon request, as resources are available. Formal training sessions may meet professional Continuing Education Unit requirements, including Department of Public Safety POST certification.
All mandated panel members (law enforcement officials, prosecutors, coroners or medical examiners, social service workers, public health nurses, juvenile officers and emergency medical services) plus other community professionals are encouraged to attend the annual training. They are also encouraged to share training announcements with other interested colleagues working in the field of child death awareness, investigations and prevention. In additional to the annual program, training sessions on topics of related interest are ongoing, and may be scheduled upon the request of local panel members or other community professionals.
