E-mail Dated 5/11/05

FROM: Mark Laird

TO:  All District Supervisors

Please share this with all staff.

Effective 5-11-05, District Office staff will no longer be responsible for the process of informing the two Missouri consumer organizations, (MCB/NFB) that an applicant wants information regarding services they offer by obtaining the applicant’s permission, by signature on the Release of Information to Consumer Organization form.  There is no need to put the Release of Information to Consumer Organizations in referral packets or to take this form to consumers for signature.

Effective  5-11-05  Janice Phillips, at State Office, will be responsible for mailing a metered postcard and  brochures out to all new applicants in the VR and the IL programs.  The metered postcard will inform the applicants about the two consumer organizations.  Applicants will be responsible for completing the card and returning it to State office if they want more information about the consumer organizations.

This in no way limits or prevents staff from talking to consumers about consumer organizations but you still must be fair and impartial in your conversation.

Thank You

Mark Laird, Assistant Deputy Director
