Who Is Required to Complete Fingerprinting? 

  • Unlicensed relatives must complete fingerprinting within 15 days of the name-based criminal screening conducted for emergency placement in an unlicensed home. Any child placed in an unlicensed home shall be removed immediately if any person residing in the home fails to provide fingerprints after being requested to do so, unless the person refusing to provide fingerprints ceases to reside in the private home (210.482 RSMo).  
  • Foster/Adoptive Family Home Applicants (210.487 RSMo). 
  • Respite Only Home Applicants, not applying for foster/adopt (43.543 RSMo – for Missouri criminal history) 
  • All household members age eighteen (18) and older, or any household member younger that eighteen (18) who has been certified as an adult (210.482 RSMo, 210.487 RSMo). 
  • Biological parent(s) and other household members (e.g. paramour, relative, adult child, etc.). House Bill 1453, which was passed during the 2004 legislative session, prevents the Children’s Division from reuniting any child with a parent who, or into a household where a household member, has been convicted of specific criminal charges. These individuals are responsible for payment for fingerprinting(210.482 RSMo, and 210.482 RSMo).
