Department of Mental Health and Brain Injury Waiver Providers: Be Prepared for Electronic Visit Verification Hard Launch
The third phase of the hard launch impacting claims for services requiring Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) provided by the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and the Brain Injury Waiver personal care services (Provider type 85) is tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2026.
Providers without an active EVV vendor in the EVV Aggregator Solutions (EAS) must complete vendor setup and submit verified visits in EAS before the hard launch. After the hard launch, any claims submitted without an active EVV vendor and verified visits will be automatically denied. Delaying setup until launch may delay getting claims approved for payment.
Providers who recently set up or switched EVV vendors should ensure the new vendor is in the EAS system. Before billing, providers should always log in to EAS to confirm that visits are in verified status.
Participants must be enrolled in the EAS system in each specific provider account and do not automatically transfer between provider IDs. Providers who operate under multiple provider types must work with their EVV vendor to ensure participant listings are sent to Sandata for each separate EAS account. This step is required to match visits to billing claims.
