Medically Complex Adult Waiver

The Medically Fragile Adult Waiver offers services to individuals who have serious and complex medical needs and are no longer eligible for services under the Healthy Children and Youth program. To be eligible, an individual must be age 21 or older and assessed as requiring placement in an ICF/MR absent these services. The services available include attendant care, private duty nursing, and specialized medical supplies. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of Special Health Care Needs administers this program.

Independent Living Waiver

The Independent Living Waiver is similar to the Consumer-Directed State Plan Personal Care program, requiring the same eligibility criteria be met and offering additional personal assistance services beyond the limitations of the state plan. Additional services available include environmental accessibility adaptations, specialized medical equipment and supplies, financial management services, and case management. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior and Disability Services administers this program.

Brain Injury Waiver

The Brain Injury Waiver offers Home and Community-Based Services to participants with traumatic brain injuries who are between the ages of 21 and 65 that require nursing home level of care. Services include personal care, applied behavior analysis, assistive technology, environmental access and modification, neuropsychological evaluation, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, and occupational, physical and speech therapy. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior and Disability Services (DSDS), administers this program.

AIDS Waiver

The AIDS Waiver provides in-home services to participants diagnosed by a physician as having AIDS or an HIV-related illness and are assessed as meeting a nursing home level of care. The services available include personal care, private duty nursing, attendant care, and supplies. Supplies include diapers, under pads, and gloves. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of HIV, STD, and Hepatitis administers this program.

Aged and Disabled Waiver

The Aged and Disabled Waiver offers in-home services to individuals aged 63 or over who have been assessed with certain impairments and unmet needs to the extent that they would require nursing home care in the absence of these services. The services available include homemaker, chore, respite, home delivered meals and adult day care. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior and Disability Services administers this program.

Adult Day Care Waiver

The Adult Day Care Waiver offers continuous care and supervision in a licensed adult day care setting to adults with disabilities ages 18 through 63 who meet nursing facility level of care. Services include but are not limited to assistance with activities of daily living, planned group activities, food services, observation, skilled nursing services as specified in the plan of care and transportation to and from the adult day care setting. The Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior and Disability Services administers this program.

Former Foster Youth 1115 Waiver

Section 1115 of the Social Security Act gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services authority to approve experimental, pilot, or demonstration projects that promote the objectives of the Medicaid and CHIP programs. The purpose of these demonstrations, which give states additional flexibility to design and improve their programs, is to demonstrate and evaluate policy approaches.
