Department of Social Services experiencing statewide phone service disruption

AT&T cut to Jefferson City fiber optic line disrupts phone service to Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline and Family Support Division Information Center

Jefferson City, MO—Today, due to a cut by AT&T to a fiber optic line in Jefferson City, the Department of Social Services is experiencing phone service disruptions to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline (1-800-392-3738) and the Family Support Division Information Center (1- 855-373-4636).  This problem has impacted callers across the state. Phone service is expected to be restored this evening.

The Department of Social Services created a temporary fix to enable callers to use the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline number (1-800-392-3738).  However, the earlier disruption has created a higher volume of Hotline calls and callers may get a busy signal.  Callers are encouraged to call the Hotline back at a later time. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.

During this outage, callers who need information or assistance from the Family Support Division are encouraged to use the online option to check benefits online or visit the nearest resource center.
