Foster Parent Portal

The foster parent portal will consist of an initial licensure and re-licensure process and workflow for families in Missouri that want to provide placement for children, whether as relative or foster care placements. The portal will enable both applicants and Children’s Division staff to more easily and accurately track and take ownership of the licensing process by allowing information to be viewed, submitted, and approved in one central location. 

Child Welfare Learning Institute (CWLI)

Missouri’s Child Welfare Learning Institute: Investigations Academy

The goal of this project is to design and implement a comprehensive onboarding and professional development program that equips new investigators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform accurate safety and risk assessments and recommend appropriate next steps and interventions. This will be achieved through:

Phase 1: Centralization of Prevention Teams

The purpose of the Statewide Prevention Program is to support families to thrive, for children to remain safely with their families, and for families to use their support networks and community connections. The Statewide Prevention Program engages with families through Prevention Referrals, prior to allegations of child abuse or neglect occurring. The goal of the Statewide Prevention Program is to prevent or reduce the likelihood of future child abuse and neglect, by connecting families to community services, programs and developing sustainable family supports.

Critical Investigations Unit (CIU)

The Critical Investigations Unit (CIU) encompasses the State of Missouri, operating under guidelines within the Child Welfare Manual, and is primarily responsible for investigating the following types of investigations:

  • Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N)  fatalities  and CA/N near-fatalities;
  • Other complex investigations which may include medical neglect or sexual abuse;
  • Additional investigations may be required at the direction of the CIU Administrator or the Children Division’s Deputy Director of Safety.  

 

Missouri Comprehensive Child Welfare Information Systems (CCWIS) Modernization

The Missouri Comprehensive Child Welfare Information Systems (CCWIS) project team is working to improve outcomes for Missouri children and families by providing the Children’s Division (CD) with a modern, user-friendly case management system. Our goal is to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the work of CD by simplifying data from all angles, ensuring the processes within the CCWIS accurately reflect the practice of child welfare in Missouri, and encouraging collaboration inside and outside the agency.
