The MO HealthNet Division covers the cost of optical services for eligible participants. Optical services include but are not limited to eye exams, office visits, treatment, prosthetic eyes, eyeglasses, and Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT)/Healthy Children and Youth (HCY) optical screens and services.
Missouri has two programs for eligible individuals needing financial assistance in nursing homes. One program is the “Supplemental Nursing Care Program.” Under this program, if a person meets eligibility requirements as determined by the Family Support Division and resides in a nursing home that is licensed but not Title XIX (Medicaid) certified, that person may receive a cash grant. The other assistance program is “Vendor Nursing Care,” this is a MO HealthNet program in which reimbursement is made to the provider of nursing services.
Certified nurse midwives may furnish all medically necessary services that are within their scope of practice. These services include family planning, well woman checks, prenatal care, delivery, post partum care, and newborn care to infants 0 through 2 months. The MO Healthnet Division covers the cost of these services for eligible participants.
The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) covers the cost of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services for eligible participants for medically necessary transportation if the participant does not have access to transportation services that are available free of charge. The participant must have an appointment for any medical treatment that is approved by MHD and the trip must be scheduled 2-3 days in advance depending on the county. MO HealthNet reimburses for certain clinical diagnostic laboratory services and is applicable to physicians (individual or group practice), independent laboratories and outpatient hospitals.
The MO HealthNet Division covers the cost of hospital services including inpatient and outpatient services for MO HealthNet eligible participants. An acute inpatient service is one in which the hospital expects to provide service to the member in the hospital for a 24-hour period or longer. Outpatient hospital services are those services provided to a member not admitted by the hospital as an inpatient but is registered on the hospital records as an outpatient and receives services from the hospital.
The hospice benefit is designed to meet the needs of participants with life-limiting illnesses and to help their families cope with related problems and feelings. Hospice care is an approach to treatment that recognizes that the impending death of an individual warrants a change in focus from curative care to palliative care.
Home health services provide primarily medically-oriented treatment or supervision to individuals with an acute illness, or an exacerbation of a chronic or long-term illness, which can be therapeutically managed at home.
The MO HealthNet Hearing Aid Program provides medically necessary audiology services to MO HealthNet participants.
