Course Summary
Deciding the best placement for a child is like a gigantic puzzle, requiring a clear understanding of the various laws that apply to considering grandparents, other relatives, siblings, 'kin,’ and foster parents as a placement option. There are also factors unique to each individual child that need to be considered. This training puts these concepts together.
Goals & Objectives
By participating in this training, you will:
- Explore the laws around placement decisions and understand how they apply throughout the case, from removal to achieving permanency
- Learn how to discuss these laws with Family Support Team Members and in court
- Be able to document a factual basis for the placement decisions that are made throughout the case and understand that the law requires this
- Be able to apply the various factors to the law when making placement decisions
