The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (“NVRA” or “Motor Voter Act”) was enacted to increase the number of citizens registered to vote and to establish safeguards that ensure a citizen’s right to vote. The NVRA ensures that certain state agencies (those that serve persons with disabilities or that provide public assistance) will provide the opportunity to register to vote at the time of each application for assistance, renewal/recertification of assistance, or notification of change of address.

The Family Support Division is one of those agencies that assists citizens with the opportunity to register to vote. In order to ensure all customers served by FSD are provided the opportunity to register to vote tracking logs are monitored. FSD generates NVRA reports monthly based on information gathered from these logs.
