The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists low-income households, particularly those with the lowest incomes that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy, in meeting their immediate home energy needs. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981, as amended, was included as part of the Coats Human Services Reauthorization Act of 1998, P. L. 105-285.

A virtual public hearing for the FFY 20 Revised Model State Plan and the FFY 2021 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Model State Plan was held August 27, 2020 from 10:30am to 11:30am.

The final version of the FFY 2020 LIHEAP Revised Model State Plan and the FFY 2021 LIHEAP Model State Plan has been certified by the Department of Social Services and submitted for approval to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and posted to the Missouri Department of Social Services’ website.
