The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
(LIHEAP) assists low-income households, in meeting their immediate home energy needs.

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Act of 1981, as amended, was included as part of the Coats Human Services Reauthorization Act of 1988, P.L. 105-285
