The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists low-income households, particularly those with the lowest incomes that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy, in meeting their immediate home energy needs. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981, as amended, was included as part of the Coats Human Services Reauthorization Act of 1998, P. L. 105-285.

A public hearing for the FFY 2018 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Model State Plan was held July 26, 2017 at the Harry S. Truman Building Room 493-494, 301 West High Street, Jefferson City, MO from 10:30am to 11:30am.

The final version of the FFY 2018 LIHEAP Model State Plan has been approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
