The purpose of the Interstate Compact on Juveniles is to provide for the supervision of juvenile offenders (either on probation or aftercare/parole) who reside outside of their state of adjudication or commitment. It also provides for the return of out-of-state juvenile absconders, escapees, and non-delinquent runaways as well as juveniles charged as being delinquent.

Youth supervised by the Division of Youth Services under the terms of the Interstate Compact are eligible for essentially the same case management services* as youth committed to our care. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Social Service Aids
  • Family Therapy
  • Day Treatment Programs
  • Jobs Program
  • Counseling Groups

*Note: Interstate Compact youth are not eligible for residential placement or shelter in DYS programs.

The Interstate Compact on Juveniles is state law in all 50 states as well as the jurisdictions of the Virgin Is-lands and the District of Columbia. DYS is Missouri’s administrating authority for the Interstate Compact on Juveniles (RSMo 219.019 #2) and DYS service coordinators provide supervision for all incoming cases.
